The first part, released in 2012, was less effective, but the second part seems almost workmanlike in comparison. There are some great setpieces where stuff blows up, the obligatory scenes of Spidey swinging between skyscrapers and some reasonable 3D, but it seems like everyone, from the director of a tea boy, knowing that they are making a bad movie and wanted the whole thing over. Spider-Man is always a fun superhero, unburdened by the brooding menace of Batman or Superman's moral crusading. The webslinger never short wisecrack her latex costume or a dual identity.
